In the world of top-level sport, the pursuit of excellence is not limited to athletes’ personal performance; it’s also about the equipment they use.
In the world of top-level sport, the pursuit of excellence is not limited to athletes’ personal performance; it’s also about the equipment they use. For paralympic athletes, like paracyclist Telmo Pinão, this equipment optimization is especially crucial. VANGEST was proud to collaborate with Telmo Pinão again for the Glasgow Track Cycling World Championships in August, as we did for the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games.
Innovative Design for Optimal Performance
Our contribution consisted of designing and producing a device for Telmo’s bike. Since Pinão competes with a prosthetic leg, we created this component in order to:
– Be practical and sturdy to support the amputated leg well,
– Allow the angle of support for the leg to be adjusted,
– Maintain the stability of the bike and the balance of the athlete.
We were very happy to be able to contribute to the success of the national athlete and to know that the Portuguese participation in the Track World Championships went very well, with Telmo Pinão achieving the main goal for the C2 class individual pursuit event: beating his personal record (by more than 5 seconds)!
